Update on my girl

We came to several realizations after we saw the psychologist who tested Nitalia, the main one being she was not challenged at all in the school she was enrolled in. I am not even going to suggest that the school was not a decent school; however all things being considered it was not right for Nitalia. We knew she needed more time at school along with more options of things to learn while in school so I began researching private schools. Our timing could not have been better. We went to some open houses, called and interviewed, and within a week of seeing one specific school, Nitalia was a new student.

Well, it has now been one month since we moved Nitalia to her new school, an IB World school in Aliso Viejo. She is happy, thriving and does not seem worse for the wear. She is there from 8-3 each day, except Friday when they are done at 1, and she has classes in Spanish, and PE three times a week, computer, art and music once a week, and the regular writing, math and literacy every day along with some Christian education for good measure. Her teacher is well versed in children with needs similar to Nitalia's and she is ready to challenge her to the last degree possible.

She has also joined the Daisy group and is beginning an after school Italian class soon. I did have to pinky promise her that this would be the last time she moved schools until 8th grade (unless something unpredictable happens). She accepted my pinky, and we have been on our way ever since.

Stay tuned. Here's to hoping nothing else comes up to report!

P.S.
I want to continue to praise public school teachers for everything they do with the limited money and other resources they are given. Public schools are still great places to learn.
